The internal coordinate system is defined so the X axis pierces the latitude / longitude origin 0°N 0°E, the Y axis pierces the north pole and the Z axis pierces the point 0°N -90°E. For object placement, the local coordinate system (east, north, altitude) is used.

The coordinate system displayed in the lower left corner of the 3D view always displays the local coordinate system where X is towards east, Y towards north and Z the altitude.

Objects are placed in such a way that the object’s axes are aligned with the local coordinate system.
